A Tesla Model Three was reportedly stolen in Minnesota with only a smartphone — a high-tech twist on the frequent crime.

The alleged theft occurred at Trevls, a Minnesota-based electrical vehicle-only automotive rental firm in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Police imagine that the suspect manipulated the Tesla app to unlock and begin the automotive. Computer forensics specialist Mark Lanterman instructed Fox 9 News that what he thinks occurred is that the suspect referred to as Tesla’s buyer help and added the Tesla Model Three to his Tesla account by its automobile identification quantity. Then, the suspect may unlock and begin the automotive from inside the app, without having a key.

The automotive was tracked down a couple of days later in Waco, Texas, greater than 1,000 miles south of Minnesota, and the suspect was arrested.
